Iron chelate DTPA 6%

Categories: SKU: 50148

FIELD OF APPLICATION
Synthetic iron chelates are stable molecules that do not degrade quickly. This makes them suitable for use in culture media and in nutrient solutions. Natural chelates such as ferric citrate are degraded by microbiological activity and are therefore only recommended for foliar fertilization.

Some synthetic chelates can also be used for foliar fertilization in the field, e.g. DTPA.

Description of the project

BENEFITS
- Provides good access to plant-available iron for your plants
- Helps you avoid iron deficiency in demanding plant species
- Iron, like many other micronutrients, is active in enzyme reactions in cells and also important for plant resistance to diseases.

DESCRIPTION
Synthetic iron chelates consist of iron bound to organic molecules, 'chelates', which complex the iron and keep it in a water-soluble form. There are different chelates that are stable in different pH ranges. For fertilizer purposes, chelates should be able to withstand a pH range of 3.0-7.5. The chelates DTPA, HEEDTA and EDDHSA meet these requirements. We sell the following products:

Fe-DTPA 6% (72 g/l) Liquid 12.8 kg (density 1.28 kg/liter)
Fe-DTPA 3% (39 g/l) Liquid 12.6 kg (density 1.26 kg/liter)
Iron chelate EDDHSA 6% (60 g/kg) Solid product for incorporation into growing media, 25 kg

RECOMMENDATION
Dosage:
- Fe-DTPA 3%: 66 ml/1000 liters of irrigation water corresponds to 2 ppm iron in the nutrient solution.
- Fe-DTPA 6%: 33 ml/1000 liters of irrigation water corresponds to 2 ppm iron in the nutrient solution.
Do not mix iron chelate in stock solution with acid giving pH below 3.

We recommend a water analysis of minerals to check that the nutrient solution contains the correct amount of plant nutrients. It is also important to analyze recirculated nutrient solutions to be able to adjust both plant nutrition and alkalinity before the nutrient solution goes back to the crop again.

Can also be applied at 1-10 l/ha as foliar fertilization.
We recommend plant sap analysis to check the need for application of iron and other plant nutrients for foliar fertilization. After a few weeks (at least two weeks) a new sample can be sent for analysis. If necessary, the treatment may be repeated.
