Calcium nitrate Haifa Cal
FIELD OF APPLICATION
Haifa Cal is used for the supply of nitrogen and calcium in nutrient solutions to all plant species both by watering and foliar fertilization.
WHY SHOULD I USE HAIFA CAL
Calcium nitrate provides calcium which is important for the quality of fruits and improves shelf life. Calcium is incorporated into both cell membranes and cell walls and is important for cell stability and resistance to disease.
Nitrogen is the plant nutrient that the plant needs most, as it is incorporated into DNA, chlorophyll and all the amino acids that the plant needs for protein synthesis and enzymes that have many functions in the plant. Nitrogen is available in various forms, calcium nitrate contains a small amount of ammonium which helps to counteract unwanted pH increase in the substrate.
But nitrogen should not be overdosed. Consider the possibility of replacing some calcium nitrate with calcium chloride to provide better flavor and quality. Used mainly in tomato cultivation. Caution is recommended in other cultures.

DESCRIPTION
Haifa Cal calcium nitrate is a water-soluble calcium nitrate. It also contains a small amount of ammonium nitrogen.
RECOMMENDATION
The standard dose is 100-300 mg calcium/l nutrient solution. This corresponds to about 50-160 kg Haifa Cal/1000 l stock solution (at a dilution of 1:100). Do not mix calcium nitrate in the same fertilizer tub as fertilizers containing sulphate or phosphate.
We recommend a water analysis of minerals to check that the nutrient solution contains the correct amount of plant nutrients. It is also important to analyze recirculated nutrient solutions in order to adjust both plant nutrients and alkalinity before the nutrient solution is returned to the crop.
For foliar fertilization use up to 10 kg/ha in 200-400 l of water. Pay attention to the risk of burns.
We recommend plant sap analysis to check the need for application of calcium and other plant nutrients for foliar fertilization. After a few weeks (at least two weeks) a new sample can be sent for analysis. If necessary, the treatment may be repeated.
